Ben Hur Building, Crawfordsville, INJames E. (“Jim”) Ayers provides his knowledge, experience, and expertise as Of Counsel to Ayers Law Firm from his Indiana located and practice at Wernle, Ristine & Ayers, LPC (link to separate page) in Crawfordsville, Indiana.


Mr. Ayers has been an attorney since 1966, when he received his law degree from Harvard University. He served in the JAGC of the U.S. Army from 1967-1971 and then moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana, where he joined the firm of Wernle, Ristine & Ayers, LPC, currently the oldest law firm in Indiana (founded in 1836 by Ben Taylor Ristine).

Mr. Ayers is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of Colorado, as well as the State of Indiana, 1966, U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Ayers’ reported cases (some drafted by Gwyn Ayers) include: Richardson et al v. County of Montgomery and State of Indiana et al, 653 N.E.2d 136, 726 N.E.2d 888; Spears v. Blackwell, 666 N.E.2d 974; Shell Oil Company v. The Lovold Company, 687 N.E.2d 383; MSP Collaborative Developers v. Fidelity & Deposit Co., 596 F.2d 247; Safety National Casualty Company v. Cinergy Corporation, 829 N.E. 2d 986 (Ind. Ct. App. 2005); Masonic Temple Association of Crawfordsville v. Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, 837 N.E. 2d 1032 (Ind. Ct. App. 2005).
